Today we are reviewing the top 10 food processors of 2018 for you. Food processors make healthy cooking much easier in the average household. One thing that needs to be considered is the best size food processor you need. We Product Detailstherefore took the time to look at different size food processors both for home kitchen and commercial food processors.

Obviously, most of us will not be buy a commercial food processor so we will not be including those in our recommendations but they did give us some good ideas about what a top rated food processor would look like. If it is good enough for a professional chef then it should be good enough for us normal people.

Like most of our reviews we like to tell you want we looked at when we do our reviews. You might call this what to consider when buying a food processor section

  1. This is not a cheap food processor review, so do not expect price to be the biggest factor we considered. We did find that more expensive food processors offered some quality and feature Product Detailsadvantages over a cheap food processor but there are some moderately priced foot processors that give you similar benefits to an expensive food processor.
  2. You make have noticed we did not call this review the Black Decker food processors or Kenwood food processors review. That does not mean we did not consider the brand because there is a certain trust built into a name brand food processor that an off brand may not have. Not to say that some of the non Kitchenaid food processors are not good, they just need a little more research. Which we did.
  3. Not to be confused with brand as stated above. We want a food processor that will last. One that is made well.
  4. It is always nice to see what others think about one of our top ten food processors. The more good reviews they have the better we feel about our recommendation.
  5. The more useful bells and whistles the food processor has the better. Unless of course you are looking for an easy to use food processor. If they are designed correctly, even one with a lot features should still be easy to use so do not panic.

What features did we look for when reviewing our top 10 food processors?

  1. Bowl capacity. We did not search for small food processors, full size food processors, or large food processors in particular so you will have to determine which of our recommended food processors Product Detailsis the one for you.
  2. A food processor with different types of blades for different functions is best. The blades also need to be well made.
  3. Kind of like a microwave, a food processor has to have the strength/power to get the job done. Again, these are not commercial food processors so there is a little trade off when we reviewed our choices.
  4. We touched on this above. The more they can do the better as long as the food processor is still easy to use. We do not want to have to take a college class to figure it out.
  5. We considered this but it really depends on what you are wanting the food processor to do. Same as bowl capacity above to us.
  6. Dishwasher-Safe Parts. This is huge, no one wants to have to hand wash everything. If you have a dishwasher you should be able to use it, right?
  7. Falls under quality. Food processors move and sometimes vibrate a lot, needs to have a sturdy enough body to handle the load.
  8. Our top ten food processors needed to have easy to use and functional controls.
  9. Lid and feeding tube. Needs to fit well, be safe and easy to use.

Just a little history lesson before we let you go. According the Britannica.com, “The food processor was invented by Pierre Verdon, whose Le Magi-Mix, a compact household version of his own earlier restaurant-scaled Robot-Coupe, was first exhibited in Paris in 1971. Carl Sontheimer, an American engineer and inventor, refined Verdon’s machines to produce the Cuisinart”

Although food processors are similar to blenders in many ways, one of the main differences is interchangeable blades which enable the food processor to perform more functions in a modern kitchen. It is also noted that a food processor typically does not use any water unlike a blender. You might be able to tell we are working up to a blender review in the near future. We would recommend a food processor instead of a blender if you have limited kitchen space but if you can afford both you would be able to do just about anything you wanted.

Food processors can be used for a variety of functions including slicing/chopping vegetables, grinding nuts, seeds, meat and/or dried fruit. A full size food processor can be used to shred or grate cheese or vegetables as well as pureeing and the mixing and kneading of dough. Of course if you have already purchased one of our best bread makers which we gave you the link to above you would not need a food processor to do your kneading.
