We went back and forth on what we wanted to review here between the best camping equipment of 2018 and the top rated camping equipment of 2018. In the end we asked our self what is the best camping equipment that you need to have with you for a good trip?

To us that did not necessarily mean the top rated camping gear it meant an assortment of gear that you might need. We may do a review later on cool camping gear or unusually camping gear if enough of you want to see something like that. That is why it is important that you leave comments and suggestions to our reviews. We try to give you want you want. We search online camping equipment reviews and the best camping equipment review out there to give you the best and hopefully useful camping gear you want.

During our review we looked at top rated camping coolers, top rated camping equipment, top rated sleeping bags, top rated backpacks, top rated camping tents and everything else we could think of to give you a well rounded list of camping equipment you would find useful on your next camping excursion and we hope you do not end up with a variation of Spain’s running with the bulls called running from the bears. Nothing shortens a camping trip like a good bear attack.

So what did we look for in putting this list together?

1. Let’s face it, you can only take so much with you on a camping trip so you need to focus only on what is useful and will make your trip more enjoyable.
2. Since you can only take limited items, you had better take ones that will last.
3. About the same as durability. Whatever you take has to last. It is not like you can take extras. At least not of the bigger items.
4. Everything you take needs to keep you and your loved ones safe. No one wants a tent that goes up like a roman candle if a stray spark hits it. Too bad we could not find a bear resistant tent made of some sort of light weight titanium mesh with a built in automated Gatling Gun bear Defense System. Or, bear spray for those less violent.
5. Camping should not break the proverbial bank. You need good top rated camping equipment that you can actually afford.
6. Water resistant. Obviously this depends a little on what the item is. But items that are likely to get wet need to have a certain amount of built in water resistance to be considered top rated camping gear.
