2. How big is your family or appetite? Make sure you get an ice cream maker that makes enough for everyone. Or, buy two.

3. This refers to the size of the ice cream maker itself. Some are bigger than others. If have to store it in the open size may be more of an issue for you.

4. If you are going to keep it out all the time you probably do not want to go with the classic picnic motor with a plastic tub. Today you can get a high quality stainless steel version that will make your neighbors jealous.

There are a couple of types of ice cream makers out there. We are ignoring the manual ones!

1. Standard Ice & Salt ice cream maker that I am sure you are all familiar with. These are affordable but do require a little work and are somewhat slow.
