Do you Know why Red Tea is Better than Green Tea
I know you have probably heard how good green tea is for its health and wellness benefits, but have you have wondered if there was something better?
Yes, green tea has lots of health benefits such as antioxidants which can reduce the chance of cancer and heart disease.
We agree that green tea is still a good option, that is if you don’t have access to rooibos. Just in case you are wondering we will be referring to rooibos as red tea moving forward.

Lots of reasons.
Red tea is equally as high in antioxidants as green tea is. But, red tea has some very rare antioxidants called aspalathin and nothofagin. Not only are these two ingredients great antioxidants, they also have the added benefits of reducing fat, lowering stress, helping with metabolic disorders and regulating your blood sugar. So, yes you could drink green tea and get the same antioxidants but you would be missing out on all the other great benefits only provided in red tea.
There have been many studies, including some more recent ones, that consider red tea an important and viable weight loss option. This is not even taking into consideration the potential heart disease, Alzheimer and diabetes benefits.
There are some other studies that suggest that red tea could be beneficial in helping with stomach cramps, allergies, insomnia, asthma and headaches.
If you are lactose intolerant you might even find that red tea can be an effective source of calcium.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has even confirmed that foods or drinks rich in flavonoid have cardiovascular benefits.
Red tea also does not contain caffeine which is another benefit over standard green tea. There are some green tea products which say the caffeine has been removed, but you always have to wonder if these process also reduce the effectiveness of green tea. With red tea that is not a problem since it is naturally caffeine free.
The absence of caffeine makes red tea the perfect drink later at night when caffeine would be a huge negative.
One of the things we really like about red tea as compared to green tea is the taste. Red tea has a much better, less bitter taste as compared to green tea because of the green tea’s high tannic level.
This means it is easier not only for you to drink but also for getting children to drink. You can add additional sweetener to red tea to further improve the taste. It would take a lot more sweetener to improve the taste of green tea by comparison.
Technically speaking, red tea is not actually tea. Neither is green tea for that matter.
To be tea it must come from the Camellia sinensis plant. Red tea actually comes from a shrub from the Cedarberg Mountains in South Africa. The shrub is part of the legume family of plants.
